Shining Ardent Eyes...
A lady came up to me at church one day and told me I had shining ardent eyes..
Ardent = Expressing or characterized by warmth of feeling; passionate: an ardent lover.
Displaying or characterized by strong enthusiasm or devotion; fervent: “an impassioned age, so ardent and serious in its pursuit of art” (Walter Pater).
Burning; fiery.
Glowing; shining
Enthusiasm, passionate, devotion, fervent, burning, fiery, glowing, shining.... is that what people see in me? When they look into my eyes? I remember a time when I used to look into my eyes and wonder that. The only thing I saw was hurt sadness and hate.. but now I'm being told I have ardent eyes..
i'm not too sure..
Eliza
ps, just a question.. but why is being gay wrong and where is it in the bible?

A great study is Romans 1. Let's start at verse 18 which says that the "wrath of God is revealed because of the ungodliness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth (keep themselves in the dark spiritually) by their wickedness. God has made it plain to them - for since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities have been clearly seen by what He has made so that men are without excuse." Then it talks about a variety of evil things that make men blind because of their sin, including worshipping idols (v. 22)and sexual impurity (v. 24. To make it very clear, check out verses 26-27:
"Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion."
Ok, so far we've got idol worship grouped in with homosexuality - think on that for a minute while I also point out that Paul begins this section (v. 19) by talking about God's divine qualities and how He has revealed what is true by what He has made. Clearly Paul is saying God made the model of man and women in creation and that any other sexual relationship is unatural and idolatry (ie. you can't worship God AND be a homosexual.) Verse 25 says in regard to sexual sin, "They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, worshipped and served created things rather than the Creator." Homosexuality = a created, man-made thing = idolatry.
Verses 28 on talk about a "depraved mind," which sounds to me like oppression/possession. "They became filled with every kind of wickedness." And then the Word goes on to list all kinds of bad stuff that homosexuality is an open doorway to. A "depraved mind" is a mind that is so deceived it can't even recognize truth. It is spiritual darkness - even a Christian in a homosexual lifestyle can not hear the voice of God. Homosexual demons are ugly suckers - and you KNOW it's a demon b/c the devil is NOT particularly creative (unlike the Creator.) You will find homosexual demons spout the same lies (lies that ppl HAVE to believe in order to become homosexual) - this is the pattern of lies to watch out for:
1. Someone who is gay is born that way - it is natural for them to be gay and unnatural for them to be straight. Hmmm...Clearly God makes all ppl, in His image, and that He has revealed a proper sexual relationship through what He has created - Adam and Eve are the model. The above passage indicates that He has not created ppl to be gay and that homosexuality is a creation of the world and part of the devil's plan to get ppl into a depraved mind and deeper patterns of sin. Ever meet a Godly, practicing homosexual person? (Ask me about this some time. I have a friend who says he loves God and thinks he's gay, but he's into all kinds of sin and is bound by it! This has kept him from having a personal relationship with God beyond "religion" - ie. "head knowledge")
2. Ppl who have certain qualities/personality characteristics/physical appearances are gay (ie. the worldly expression "gay tendancies") What horrible stereotyping! To say that because a guy loves drama or has a baby face or a high voice means he's gay destroys the person God created. Or because a girl is strong, hates pink, or wants to be in the army makes her "butch" or unfeminine and henceforth, a lesbian. Good grief! God made men and women with a WIDE variety of qualities. To say that a person must have certain qualities to be heterosexual, "manly" or "feminine" is putting ppl in a box. A very small, worldly box that I'm sure makes God very sad. Who has any right to tell someone else what or who they are except God? That is the worst peer pressure I've ever heard of, but if someone hears ppl tell them long enough that they're gay, they will eventually start to believe it unless they know the truth about how God created them.
3. Someone who doesn't fit in, is hard to understand, or is more comfortable being friends with someone of the opposite sex must be gay. Wow! Seriously, gay seems to be the world's explanation for all the "outcasts." The devil offers ppl who don't seem to fit into our narrow heterosexual world a way to fit into another group (similar to the lie he uses to get ppl to join gangs.) Accepting homosexuality (ie. "coming out of the closet,") is accepting a lie that helps a person feel better about themself. Ppl who have never really felt they "fit in" are relieved to find out it's b/c, well, they're gay. Now they fit in, they have a community that accepts all of their quirks and now they can be themselves, be understood and accepted for who they are. NOT. It's just ANOTHER narrowly crafted community of boxed-in ppl who feel accepted because they fit all of the stereotypes that make them belong. It's the sinful nature of man to catagorize ppl and put them in boxes. God does not do this. Think of all of the variety in nature, all of the different kinds of cultures, languages, ethnic foods. He created us for diversity. Yes! Ppl CAN be different and still be heterosexual. In fact, God created us to be!
4. If you are attracted to someone of the same sex, you are probably gay. Hmm...than why do I have such a crush on Angelina Jolie?! Hahaha - that is ridiculous. We live in a world where ppl can find anyone and anything sexually attractive. Sex is everywhere and we are trained by the media from childhood to recognize and be attracted to attractive ppl - boys and girls. That's why it's important to get more Bible than tv time. (Yes, this is a challenge for me too!)
5. If you love someone of the same sex deeply, then you must be gay. NOPE! This is the stickiest one, but there is this thing called emotional dependancy, which I can explain to you later, b/c it will take FOREVER here. Basically, this is a very subtle sin that comes about when someone becomes very dependant and emotionally entwined with another person, looking to them to meet all of their emotional and spiritual needs instead of to God. It's a form of idolatry (Note, homosexual demons and idolatry demons tell similar lies.) It's basically loving some one else more than God and it can lead to homosexuallity, but I've also seen it happen between boyfriend/girlfriend.
Ok - so there's my rant. Please feel free to ask questions. You may also want to look up Sodom and Gomorrah, as the Bible is very clear that one of the BIG reasons God destroyed that city was b/c of the sexual sin and NAMELY the homosexuality.
I hope all of this stuff is useful for your own musings and/or whoever you are witnessing/ministering to.
AND YES, YOU MOST DEFINITELY DO HAVE SHINING, ARDENT EYES. I've always thought they sparkled like you were full of mischeif and adventure. You're a wild child for Jesus and He made you to be that way.
I love your fiery, passionate, devious little peepers!
